Hvar Island (unesco heritage)
DAY01 Through the Stari Grad Plain bounded with dry-stone walls and geometrical parcels from the ancient times. We continue by the old tiled paths and come to the village Dol where we have lunch at dalmatian tavern.
Depending on your physical fitness we can spend the night here or continue over the hill of Purkin kuk, which is covered in black pine forest, towards the highest peak of the island and the church of St. Nicholas. The view there reaches till Biokovo, the islands of Brac, Vis, Korcula and peninsula of Pelješac.
DAY02 Crossing through the fields we can see workers which picking lavender and olives and cultivating the vineyards. The air there smells of oregano, sage, heather and other aromatic plants.
From the highest peak we climb down to the south side of the island to the small cave with a church and further through the vineyards to the village of Sveta nedjelja. We place on one of the small pebble bays to relax and lay on the beach.Then we go by car to the small village of Zavala where we take the steep climb to come to the cave called Grabceva špilja, which is known for the findings of painted ceramics and the representation of the boat on one of the fragments, which is the oldest representation of the boat found in Europe.
If you decide to continue with the trek we go to Humac, an old abandoned village, which has been renovated lately. Here we can place by the fireplace or in the courtyards of the stone houses where we prepare dinner on fire. Additional activities we offer in the nature of Hvar are: paintball, lavender picking and the production of essential oils, sea-kayaking or fishing from the shore.
